Hall of Shame

If I was an interviewer interviewing for the job of assistant director of housing with two applicants coming through my door, one being a trained chimp and the other being Donna Morelli, I'd give the job to the trained chimp. Now you may think I am being flippant or sarcastic, but I can promise you I am deadly serious because the worst a trained chimp could do is trash the office, whereas Donna Morelli has trashed the entire housing department, which is quite an achievement considering the state it was in when she took over.

 

She really has got be one of the dumbest individuals I have ever met in my entire life and it really begs the question as to how the hell someone that dumb gets to become the assistant director of housing

for Newham council. However the one thing that is quite apparent upon meeting her is that she's clearly a legend within her own mind and it really proves the point that there is nothing more insufferable than a stupid person who thinks they're intelligent.  When I met her at the Stratford forum in June 2022, I handed her a 14 page letter of complaint detailing the 15 years of hell I have been through as a result of amongst other things, the constant noise disturbances coming from the lift shafts that drove me so insane that I lost 5 teeth as a result of grinding them through the stress, and even showed her the gaps where these teeth once were. Obviously the first thing she needed to do to resolve this was tell that narcissistic psychopathic head of lifts, Geoff Williams to get off his backside and fix the lift noise. However she also asked me how I would like this matter to be resolved long-term, to which I told her I would like to be decanted out my current flat to a new one, as it was quite clear these lift problems were never going to end. She then agreed with me that under the circumstances, that was a perfectly reasonable request, which I assumed meant she was going to organise this.

However, she disregarded everything that was said at that meeting and instead sent this insufferable, narcissistic middle manager to visit my flat the following morning, who essentially bullied me into allowing a bunch of equally insufferable, clueless cowboy builders to stress the hell out of me by ripping my flat to shreds a couple of days later without so much as bothering to ask how I felt on the matter, especially in view of the fact that I understood it had been agreed I was going to be moved out of here, or if it was convenient to start the work so soon. As a way of resolving the lift noise, she ordered them to slap a bit of soundboard over the walls in my flat next to the lifts, which I stated in my complaint wasn't going to make any difference, something I was proven spectacularly right over. She also tried to get this manager to con me into signing an agreement which stated I wouldn't either sue or ask to be moved out of my flat, despite the fact that she had done nothing to resolve the core of my complaint which was the sole reason I wanted to be moved out in the first place in complete contradiction to what was agreed the night before. But would you care to take a guess about the one thing she didn't do? She didn't order Geoff Williams to fix the lift noise, indeed, he only found about it nine months later when I complained to the Mayor's office, and nearly a year later, the only thing that has changed with regards to the lift noise is that it has got way worse. Donna has since been ignoring my emails and phone calls, something I gather she is quite well known for.

Donna Morelli really is the poster girl for everything that is wrong with Newham council, and the way she handled my complaint sums this up perfectly, as like everyone else within the council, she went out of her way to be deliberately difficult, when the problem should have been simple to resolve.  As with any organisation, there will always be things that need fixing and there will always be someone whose job it is to fix it. When that happens, all that should be required is to tell the person whose job it is to fix the problem to do just that, or if they are unable to do so, fire them and replace them with someone who can. But that is never the case with Newham council because between the problem and its resolution, there is always a narcissist in the way who uses the situation to suck the life force out of whoever is looking for that resolution, and Donna Morelli has proved spectacularly that the rot goes right to the top.
